On October 27, 2023, the Discipline Committee of the College of Early Childhood Educators found the Member guilty of professional misconduct.
The Committee found that the Member had committed several acts of professional misconduct, including; verbally abusing a child who was under her professional supervision; physically abusing a child who was under her professional supervision; psychologically and/or emotionally abusing a child who was under her professional supervision; failing to maintain the standards of the profession; acting or failing to act in a manner that, having regard to the circumstances, would reasonably be regarded by members as disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional; contravening a law, which contravention has caused or may have caused a child who was under her professional supervision to be put at or remain at risk; and conducting herself in a manner that is unbecoming a member.
The Committee directed the Registrar to revoke the Member’s certificate of registration. The Committee also required the Member to appear before it to be reprimanded and ordered the Member to pay costs to the College in the amount of $1,000.

On January 25, 2023, the Former Member was found guilty of six counts of Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada (the “Code”), for conduct occurred between January 6, 2021 and January 12, 2021 (both dates inclusive).
The Former Member was ordered to serve a conditional sentence for a period of fifteen (15) months and three (3) years probation, concurrent on the remaining five counts. The conditions of the Former Member’s conditional sentence include but are not limited to the following: (1) Remain in Ontario with court ordered exceptions, (2) House arrest for a period of seven (7) months with court ordered exceptions, (3) During the period of house arrest: the Former Member cannot change the place of residence without obtaining written permission first by the supervisor, (4) Do not associate or communicate in any way, by any physical, electronic or other means, with the victims or any immediate family member of the victims, (5) Do not attend anywhere any place where the individuals indicated above live, work, go to school or frequent except for required court attendance, (6) Do not possess any weapon(s), (7) Attend and actively participate in all assessments, counselling or rehabilitative programs as directed by the supervisor and complete them to the satisfaction of the supervisor, (8) The Former Member will not seek, employment or volunteering, in a daycare, school, or any other setting requiring the care of anyone under the age of 16.
In addition, the Former Member was ordered to submit a DNA sample.

On November 29, 2021, the Member entered into an Undertaking with the College in which she is not currently entitled to engage in the practice of early childhood education, use the title, “early childhood educator” or “registered early childhood educator”, or hold herself out as an early childhood educator. |
